Topic: What it’s like working in federal court. The seminar will include a discussion on the Eastern District’s history of high-profile cases dating back to World War II
10:00 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. Presenter:_Denee Vadell, RPR, CCR-NJ  and Stephanie Hicks, RMR           
Topic: “Steno and the Power of Social Media.”  The seminar will include Identifying and analyzing social media tools & platforms and various relevant information for creating and editing posts.

Topic:   Stenomasters“Total communication” aspect.  The seminar will include overcoming the fear of public speaking, building confidence, learn to speak within an allotted time and many other tips to help become an effective speaker.

Topic: Written Knowledge Test Prep.  This seminar will include study guides and tools as well as professional ethics, grammar, punctuation, terminology for court, medical and technology

Topic: Case CATalyst Training Session    This seminar will teach attendees how to use features to maintain their stenographic dictionaries and to enhance their work product.

STUDENTS TRACK 2 P.M. TO 4 P.M.
Court reporting students, join us for an information-packed session.  These sessions are designed to help you envision the kind of successful career you are working towards.

CAREER PATHS:  Joshua Edwards, past president of NYSCRA, will present a portion of the Cicero Forum, a project he worked on for years with Past President Dom Tursi.  Presented with the Tursi family’s permission in memory of Dom, this session will provide an overview of the various career paths a stenographer may pursue throughout their career, state court, federal court, grand jury, freelance, and CART captioning.  This will contrast the major differences of these fields, such as the difference between W-2 and independent contractor, salary vs. transcript pages, as well as some financial must-dos for every new practitioner.

FREELANCE:  Sharon Pearce (RDR, CRR, CRC, NYRCR, NYSCRA Second Department Director, NCRA Speed & Realtime Contest Qualifier - 2022):  In this segment of the student track, Sharon will guide students through the process and practice that helped her get through school quickly, why she is so passionate about realtime, what drew her to freelancing, how she obtained high-end and international work, and how to build confidence through positive psychology to become successful while also sustaining a rewarding work-life balance.
